Who doesn’t love potatoes?

I asked around what’s your favourite vegetable and I got a lot of potato answers! So here it is - the guide to grow your fave vegetable!

Do you know how to say Potato in French?

Pomme de terre ——> Apple of the Earth/dirt!!! (weird!)

potato grow guide

We have harvested some of our potatoes to eat for our special Christmas meals. The ones in poor soil, well, they didn’t yield great (obviously) and the ones that were is great soil and properly mounded did amazing! Yeah for good soil!

I had planted tomatoes and potatoes in the same bed as they are in the same family. It will make things easier for my crop rotation schedule. You can see more potato plants coming out on the left side under the tomatoes. They are not ready to harvest yet…

Not a bad harvest!

Now to cure them - leaving them laying flat in the dark for a week or two. (or you can eat them all straight away!)

Long-term storage - in the dark cool place!

How to cook them?

  • hash browns/rosti

  • spanish tortilla

  • Korean pancake

  • potato salad

  • potato gratin

  • to thicken any soup

  • mashed potatoes

  • Shepard pie

  • Greek lemon roasted potatoes

  • hasselback potatoes'

  • gnocchis

  • French fries

One recipe I particularly love is the Gratin Dauphinois (pronounced gran-tun(g) do-fee-nwa ). Délicieux!

A joke for the end…

What do you call a lazy spud?

A couch potato!

I hope you learnt something from my post! Let me know if you enjoy this, if you tried the recipe, if you want to read about something else. I’d love some feedback! :)
